“Providing Quality Service with Compassionate Care”
Union General Hospital was founded by the East Union Parish Hospital Service District in 1975 under the Hill-Burton Act to improve rural access to healthcare. In 1983 Union General Hospital, a private, non profit corporation was formed and has operated the facility under a cooperative endeavour agreement with the East Union Hospital Service District.
We are a 501 (c) 3 critical access hospital. The Hospital provides acute inpatient and SNF beds, 24/7 emergency room physicians on site, physical, occupational and speech therapy, outpatient mental health, ultrasound, radiology and Cat Scan, full service laboratory, endoscopies, telemedicine and operates one designated rural health clinic. The hospital serves the medical needs of Union Parish as well as parts of Lincoln, Claiborne, Ouachita parishes and counties in southern Arkansas.
The hospital has a consulting agreement with Glenwood Regional Medical Center of West Monroe. Through this agreement, UGH is able to network and take advantage of cost savings methods such as continuing education, a discount buying group for supplies and equipment, consulting services and a facility that provides a higher level of care for Union General Hospital patients.
